This year, Penguin Random House proudly continued its support of the American Regions Mathematics League (ARML) by donating book prizes to the outstanding student participants at ARML’s 2026 mathematics competition.
The following books were given to participants as prizes: Shape: The Hidden Geometry of Information, Biology, Strategy, Democracy, and Everything Else and How Not to Be Wrong: The Power of Mathematical Thinking by Jordan Ellenberg, and Mind and Matter: A Life in Math and Football by John Urschel and Louisa Thomas.
Held earlier this year, the event brought together more than 1,800 students competing on 128 teams from the United States, Canada, China, and South Korea. Participants tested their mathematical problem-solving skills while building connections with fellow students from around the world.
The competition took place simultaneously at five university campuses: the University of Iowa, the University of Nevada, Reno, Pennsylvania State University, St. Anselm College, and Western Carolina University.
ARML President Paul Dreyer expressed his gratitude for the partnership, stating, “I wanted to thank you on behalf of ARML for your support of our contest and your always generous donation of prize books to our students.”
As one of the premier mathematics competitions for high school students, ARML celebrates academic excellence through individual and team-based challenges. This year’s top honors went to Texas Gold A1, which won Division A, and Utah B1, which captured the Division B title. Channing Yang of Texas Gold A1 was named the competition’s top individual scorer.
