Jonathan Arac is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh and a visiting professor at Columbia University. An American literary scholar, he has written Commissioned Spirits: The Shaping of Social Motion in Dickens, Carlyle, Melville, and Hawthorne; and Critical Genealogies: Historical Situations for Postmodern Literary Studies; among other works.
