Clarence Brown

Clarence Brown (1929–2015) was a professor of comparative literature, emeritus, at Princeton University. He was the author of several works on the Russian poet Osip Mandelstam. Professor Brown was the editor of The Portable Twentieth-Century Russian Reader, which contains his translation of Zamyatin’s short story “The Cave” and Yury Olesha’s novel Envy.
