A poignant non-fiction comic that sheds light on the inclusive and life-changing world of skateboarding featuring brand new art from award-winning creator of In Waves, AJ Dungo.

We find ourselves in a skateboarding renaissance, with more people heading out to use skate parks and practice on sidewalks than ever before. There’s so much to love about skating, from the heart-warming tales of people brought out of loneliness by their fellow skaters, to those who find solace in the skate park and those who were raised by skating parents…

There’s a lot to learn and love about skating culture and the people who make up this amazing community. In this graphic non-fiction masterpiece, best friends AJ Dungo and Brandon Dumais explore the highs and lows of skating culture from its conception, through to the nineties and noughties, all the way to modern day, in a visual feast that will have you reaching for your board in no time.
Brandon Dumais grew up in the Los Angeles suburbs and began writing by making up punk lyrics in high school. He studied at CSU Long Beach, receiving a degree in Creative Writing and English Literature. Dumais has had work published by Bank-Heavy Press, Sadie Girl Press, and The Men’s Heartbreak Anthology, and is the periodic editor of independent art magazine Remedial Art Class along with friend and illustrator AJ Dungo.

AJ Dungo was born in Fort Myers, Florida. He then moved to Toronto, then settled in Los Angeles where he attended Art Center in Pasadena. When he’s not making comics, he works as an illustrator and designer. And when he’s not working on anything, he’s working on his cutbacks on his surfboard and slappies on his skateboard.
