PRH Education has collaborated with renowned literacy expert Laura Robb to develop Instructional Reading Libraries for middle school grades 6 to 8. Part of the PRH Education Classroom Libraries portfolio these new Instructional Reading Libraries use the very best and latest authentic texts and are organized by genre.
The titles in each library were selected to represent the actual range of instructional reading levels found in classrooms. The PRH Education Instructional Reading Libraries have 100 titles per print collection, and many of the titles are available in à la carte eBook formats.
Each PRH Education Instructional Reading Library includes a comprehensive Educator Handbook written by Laura Robb. Using research-based practices for Instructional reading, the handbook shows teachers how to:
- Plan interactive reading lessons throughout a unit of study to enlarge students’ vocabulary
- Apply reading strategies and literary elements to build students’ critical thinking
- Analyze texts, text structure and literary features to improve comprehension through discussion and student reading notebooks
- Differentiate reading instruction with genre-based instructional libraries so all students can improve their reading skill
PRH Education Instructional Reading Libraries provide teachers with thoughtful and practical ways to help meet the range of reading levels in classrooms so all students can read and build on strengths, practice grade level strategies and thinking skills using subject appropriate and engaging texts. They offer students a choice, important for engagement, and so teachers can pair an appropriate book with each student. They will also help build volume in reading and give students choice with a range of reading levels, along with deepening students’ knowledge of how genres work.
PRH Education Classroom Libraries include both Independent and Instructional Reading Libraries.
