The National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and Penguin Random House Education are proud to present the Fall 2024 Speaker Spotlight Series! This series is open to the public and the event recordings will be available to all registrants.
Join us in conversation on Tuesday, December 3rd at 4:30 PM Eastern with author, actor, and activist George Takei to discuss his recent book My Lost Freedom, a moving, beautifully illustrated true story for children ages 6 to 9 about growing up in Japanese American incarceration camps during World War II.
On Monday, December 9th at 4:30 PM Eastern, award-winning and bestselling authors Ruta Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin will discuss their book The Bletchley Riddle, a middle grade historical adventure that follows two siblings at Bletchley Park, the home of WWII codebreakers, as they try to unravel a mystery surrounding their mother’s disappearance.
Steven Armstrong (Past NCSS President and Consultant, Connecticut State Dept. of Education) and Allison Norie (Teacher and Project Associate, Connecticut State Dept. of Education) will moderate both events.
