The PRH Translanguaging Collections were created by Drs. Luz Yadira Herrera and Carla EspaƱa to carefully consider how we validate and support bilingualism and multilingualism in classrooms. Each of the six themes and accompanying texts invite students to use their own experiences and languages to make connections and deepen their engagement with texts and each other by:

  • Celebrating their diversity and honoring their expanding language repertoires
  • Examining the world through a lens that shows how literacy, language, and power intersect
  • Learning ways to reimagine how language is used in the classroom through translanguaging

Each collection provides opportunities for students, teachers, administrators, librarians, and coaches in professional learning communities to engage with the books and topics in each collection.

The PRH Translanguaging Collections include:

  • 15 unique titles and anchor texts across picture books, early chapter, middle grade, and young adult books
  • A comprehensive educator handbook written by Drs. Luz Yadira Herrera and Carla EspaƱa that contain:
    – Planning guides
    – Reading-in-community plans
    – Language studies to ensure that our teaching includes culturally and linguistically sustaining topics, texts, and translanguaging
  • Booklist and media links specific to each collection

Contact us to take advantage of our back-to-school 50% off educator discount and to learn how you can use translanguaging as a method of teaching and as an important way of communication by bilingual and multilingual people. The Translanguaging Collections are also available through your preferred education wholesalers.
